A Central Cambria High School senior has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.
U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson announced William Westrick of Ebensburg will attend the military academy.
Westrick is the son of Ryan and Carissa Westrick and the grandson of Bill Itle of Loretto, Joyce Itle of Ebensburg, Barbara Westrick of Bakerton and Albert Westrick of Ebensburg.
“William excels academically, on the playing field and he is a leader in his community,” Thompson said. “It’s clear that he has the dedication, drive and passion to thrive at the United States Naval Academy. I wish him the best of luck as a midshipman in Annapolis.”
Westrick is a member of the National Honor Society, the Ebensburg Borough Junior Council, and the 4-H Dairy Club. He is a varsity athlete in three sports and is chairman of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
