How Much Money Do TikTokers Make? – MUO – MakeUseOf

For the big stars, it’s probably more than you think.
TikTok has grown significantly in a short space of time, with billions of downloads worldwide. And for a lucky few, it has also provided an income stream.
Becoming a "TikToker" has, consequently, turned into a genuine goal for many. But how much money do TikTokers really make? Let's have a look.
Making TikTok videos is straightforward, and this accessibility has given rise to a new generation of digital artists. Many of these earn thousands of dollars from their videos every month.
While the earnings depend upon the location you're in, or the number of followers you've got, a TikToker with one million followers can expect potentially earn between $1,000 and $30,000 per month.
On average, a creator with half a million followers or views can earn up to $450 a month. To calculate how much a creator can make per view from a sponsored post, you've to be mindful that the payment on sponsored ads is calculated per 1000 views. In that case, for half a million views, if the total earning is $450, the income for 1000 views becomes $0.90.
When you're promoting some app or service in your video, you can hope to make $100 or $200 per post if you've around half a million followers. If you're just starting out, it might be difficult to get high-paying brand sponsorships and deals.

There's yet another way to make money on TikTok. Creators can go live on Drama Queen, where they receive gifts from viewers and followers. You've to have a certain number of followers to be able to do that.
Forbes released its first-ever list of TikTok's highest-paid stars in 2020. According to that, Addison Rae Easterling tops the list. She made a whopping $5 million in a year. Charli D' Amelio is a close second, having made $4 million in 2020, whereas her sister Dixie D' Amelio occupies third place on the list—having made $2.9 million.
Sponsored posts are another way that many people make money on TikTok. For example, Charli D'Amelio—who has over 126 million followers—can make over $50,000 for this kind of content. Meanwhile, Loren Gray—with over 40 million followers—can earn $15,000 and above.
Unlike Twitter or Facebook, TikTok does not share its ad revenue with its creators. What it does do, however, is pay creators who have 100,000 followers on their videos. The company does this using TikTok's $1 billion Creator Fund.
However, the earnings from the Creator Fund aren't much in the grand scheme of things. Moreover, most TikTokers don't earn any money at all. That's why almost all creators work on song promotions and brand sponsorship deals to generate extra income.
Creators also make money from consulting, along with giving expert recommendations on niche topics that they have knowledge of.
With some of the top TikTok stars earning millions of dollars per year, you know by now that being "TikTok famous" can result in large profits—and it's easy to see why many have ambitions to do likewise.
